Nice Vacation

I'm taking a more relaxed view of the blog...a few postings here and there should do it. I'm mainly interested in calming down a little bit...

But every once in a while, I just get irked over something so simple. I really start to think that the world just might be better off with some normal thinking people in charge.

Take Al Gore's acceptance of his Nobel prize in Norway. Here's the AP story from a few days ago and notice the part I've highlighted:

Gore in Norway to Get Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Former Vice President Al Gore arrived in Oslo on Friday to accept the Nobel Peace Prize he shared for the campaign against global warming, and shunned the traditional airport motorcade in favor of climate-friendly public transport.

Ohhhh...isn't he sweet? He's taking the more favored and "climate-friendly" public transportation. How environmentally correct of him!

How'd he get to Norway in the first place? Any guesses?

Couldn't he have just used the internet he invented to video conference his acceptance speech?

Email?

YouTube it to them?

How did he travel all that way? On public transportation?

Couldn't the AP have asked that simple question? Or made the same point? Or does my lack of a journalism degree make me unqualified to ask that sort of thing?

Then, Al hangs himself again with the another inconvenient truth...

"I use public transport when I can. It isn't always possible," Gore told The Associated Press while walking up Oslo's main street to his hotel. He said the train was much faster than a limousine, but that it was also a symbol of efforts to reduce pollution in hopes of slowing climate change.

"It is a gesture. It is also one of the changes we are all going to have to be doing anyway," Gore said.

Except important people like him, of course.

As much as I despise Hannity...he's the only one with damning video of Al Gore's "gestures" and use of "public transport" as much as possible.



NewsBusters points out that as Al and Tipper took the environmentally correct train from the airport to his hotel...his luggage got a private ride in a Mercedes van.

Apparently, Al's increasing bulk made for lack of room on the train for his and Tipper's change of undies.
